Balding for Dollars: Team Jakob with a “k”
Our friend and neighbour, Drea, lost her son, Jakob, to cancer in his brain stem almost three years ago. She is coordinating a fundraising event this year for BC Children’s Hospital to commemorate the three-year anniversary of his death.
Hello my name is Drea Beye and I am organizing this fundraiser in memory and honor of my son Jakob Slater who fought bravely against cancer in his brainstem. This June 9th it will be three years since he lost his battle at the age of 6 & 1/2. We spent a lot of time at the Oncology Department at Children’s Hospital and would like to raise money to help out their needs to care for other families. Please donate online by or if you would like to donate via cheque please make payable to “Balding for Dollars” mailed to 938 West 28th Avenue Vancouver BC V5Z 4H4. Please reference Jakob with a “k” on the cheque.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to shave their heads or have six inches or more they would like to donate to make a wig for a child. These volunteers would fundraise by collecting pledges with pledge sheets you can print online. You can also have a group that will go out and raise for one shavee or you can go out with a pledge sheet for Team Jakob with a “k”. To register as a team member go to “How you can help”, then click “register your own event”; you will then be able to select join an existing event. I myself will be donating over a foot of hair, my son Warik age 3 & 1/2, and my mom will also be shaving their heads too.

Please come and join us for a BBQ, bouncy castle, popcorn and lots of fun on June 9th at Cedar Drive Elementary School from 12-4p.m.
We are also looking for donations of items to also help raise money at the event.
